the CHAMP

Yesterday, July 9, 2009, I personally discovered and recovered a collection of ‘Siday’ (a samarnon-lineyte term for literary poems), Samarnon-Lineyte Songs and Dramas,’ in a room for no longer in use/obsolete books of Christ the King College Library. Some entries in the collection were published between the years 1931-1939 in An Lantawan, a Diocesan paper.

Also, some in the collection were reprinted in two separate publications in 1968 and 1977 of the Leyte-Samar Studies, a Graduate School Publication, of the Divine Word University of Tacloban City, Leyte.

I was very happy to discover this very rare collection! I was also very happy to have read a siday written by a former student at Colegio de San Vicente de Paul (now CKC) in 1906-1907.
